Christian weight loss – How are you keeping your guard up?

“Keep a cool head. Stay alert. The Devil is poised to pounce, and would like nothing better than to catch you napping. Keep your guard up.” 01Peter 5:8 “The Message”

Peter wrote this in a letter to early Christians but it is just as applicable today.

When the “Tempter” tempts you to binge or over eat, what are you doing to keep your guard up?

I believe Peter provides us with the answer.

“Your life is a journey you must travel with a deep consciousness of God.” 01Peter 1:18 “The Message”

If you look in a thesaurus, another word for consciousness is awareness. So Peter says life is a journey we must travel with a deep awareness of God.

To have a deep awareness of God you must find a way to keep him in your everyday thoughts. Just thinking about God when you say a prayer, read your Bible or go to church is not keeping your guard up.

I believe the “Tempter”, just like Peter said is “poised to pounce and would like nothing better than to catch you napping.”

Are you thinking about God when you pick out something to eat and while you eat (I’m not talking about the prayer before you start) or are you napping?

Are you starting to see why you may be struggling with binging or general over eating?

God bless.
