You cannot stop binge eating and overeating by exercising

A study appears in today’s Journal of the American Medical Association that states middle aged women need at least an hour a day of moderate exercise to avoid weight gain.

Their findings were based on 34,079 middle aged women followed for about 13 years. Most were not dieting and they gained on average almost 6 pounds during the study.

The study goes on to say if you are overweight – and that’s most American women – you’ll need to exercise even more if you don’t diet.

Wow, an hour or more of moderate exercise (examples include brisk walking, bicycling) a day. I had one middle aged women who I told of the study laugh and say, “Like that’s going to happen!”

We all know our metabolism slows as we get older. It has also been proven in multiple studies that weight loss is 80% eating right – 20% exercise.

The key to staying the same weight or losing weight is eating in moderation. The key to eating in moderation is developing the ability to resist the temptation to binge or overeat.

You cannot outrun overeating, it’s that simple.

When you can resist the temptation to binge or overeat, you don’t have to spend hours working out.

If it doesn’t touch your lips, it won’t end up on your hips.

God bless.
