Hi all,
I read an inspiring article this morning about a young man with a strong faith who understands what the Bible means when it says “Faith without works is dead.”
His name is Stephen Bravo-Brown, he is a freshman walk-on receiver with the University of South Florida (USF) Bulls.
He was a talented football player in high school who was going to attend a smaller school in Pennsylvania and play football. It didn’t work out there (God had bigger plans).
He still wanted to play college football but as he said, “I didn’t stress about it. I just prayed about it a lot.” (Faith)
He said he always liked USF growing up so he turned his focus there. He starting calling assistant coaches and didn’t quit until one of them picked up the phone. (Works)
Once the coaches saw highlight film he provided they became interested and the rest is history. In his first USF game he entered the game on just the fourth offensive play (ahead of seven receivers on scholarship) and had a great game.
He said, “This is just where God put me. I knew this was where I was meant to be once he answered the phone.”
This is a humble young man who when asked about his great game deflected praise to the great job the quarterback and offensive line did that helped him succeed.
