A short piece in the November issue of Men’s Health mentions a recent study done by Dutch researchers. In their study they found people who chewed large bites of food for 3 seconds consumed 52 percent more food before feeling full than those who chewed small bites for 9 seconds. This falls in line with other studies that say if you eat slower you’ll eat less.

While this is helpful, it is not a magic cure for lasting weight loss. Overeating is a relative term. Slowly eating high calorie, high fat foods is still going to add a lot of excess calories to your diet. It is when we learn to resist temptation and remove the power it has over us that everything can change.
